When it opened its new public library, the City of Mountain View, located in California’s high-tech "Silicon Valley," held a national competition for artists to create commissioned works for the building. The large painting of flowers, by Woodward Payne, brings a sense of the outdoors to the library quiet room. The collaborative works by California painter Thomas Ingmire and Italian artist Monica Dengo include elements of alphabets, drawn from various languages, and quotations about reading. |
